Our Responsibility Is Bigger Than We Thought

I read a disturbing article on the internet today, about a claim by James Cameron (producer of the Titanic) that he has found not only the tomb of Jesus Christ, but His remains.  And that he married Mary Magdalene.  And that he had a son.

My first thought was to dismiss this story as hype and nonsense (which it is) but then I had second thoughts.  I can’t dismiss it.  I have to address it.  As a Sunday School teacher, I have the responsibility to talk about this with my boys and girls.  I have to address this as what it is – another attempt to chip away at the strength of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I have to warn them that this is an example of Satan roaming like a roaring lion, seeking to devour their belief and to destroy their faith in the Word of God.

Teachers, we have a bigger responsibility than ever before.  And the longer the world lasts, the greater our responsibility will be.  We must tighten up the ropes of our teaching, and we must make sure that we are feeding our students the meat of the Word.  We must ask ourselves with each new lesson, “How is this strengthening my students’ faith?”  We must motivate them to dig deeper.  Their lives are depending on us.  Let’s not fail.
